PHASE TRANSITIONS IN NUCLEAR COLLISIONS
Copenhagen, November 27-30, 1996
An international workshop on ``Phase Transitions in Nuclear Collisions" (PT96) to be held at the Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, during the period November 27-30, 1996, is being planned. It is intended to discuss recent developments, both in theory and experiment, related to the transitions between different phases of matter in nuclear collisions at energies from 10 MeV to 10 TeV per nucleon. The main topics of the workshop include: Confinement-deconfinement transition and hadronization; Chiral transition and disoriented chiral condensates; Transition from nuclear matter to resonance matter; Liquid-gas transition and multifragmentation.
The emphasis will be on non-equilibrium aspects of these transitions, such as fast compression and expansion, supercooling, early freeze-out as well as finite-size effects. Also observable signatures of such catastrophic changes in the structure of matter will be discussed. It is hoped that the meeting will enable people working in different subfields to share their experience.
Due to limited space, participation is by invitation. A small fee will be collected. Only very limited funds are available for supporting participants. Young researchers and students from the Nordic countries can apply for special support from the NORDPLUS Program.
Further information can be received from the organizers: Jakob Bondorf (bondorf@nbi.dk), Hans Boeggild (boggild@nbi.dk), Jens Joergen Gaardhoeje (jjg@nbi.dk), Henning Heiselberg (hh@nordita.dk), Igor Mishustin (mishustin@nbi.dk), or from secretary Ulla Holm (uholm@nbi.dk).

NEW DEVELOPMENTS WITH STRONGLY CORRELATED ELECTRONS
NORDITA, December 12-14, 1996
A small workshop is planned to discuss recent analytical work in the field of strongly correlated two-dimensional electrons, with applications to high T$_{c}$ superconductors and the Quantum Hall Effect. Among suggested topics of interest are the problems of the square Fermi surface and the related problem of calculating correlation functions in the exactly solvable one-dimensional models (particularly, the XXZ model in a magnetic field), as well as the non-Fermi liquid behavior in Quantum Hall states at even denominator fractions and the bosonization of the effective Fermi surface of composite fermions.
It is planned to gather about twenty experts, for informal presentations and discussions. However, our budget is minimal, so participants are urged to find their own support, except in extreme circumstances (a special consideration will be given to young participants without support from their home institutions).
If you are interested and would like to participate, or have suggestions, please send a message to the workshop secretary (pedersen@nordita.dk). Organizers: Per Hedegaard, H.C. OErsted Institute, Dima Khveshchenko, Nordita, (khvesh@nordita.dk), and Alan Luther, Nordita, (luther@nordita.dk).
