Arlanda Airport: Directions

By taxi from Arlanda

Taking a taxi from Arlanda to anywhere in central Stockholm will cost approximately 450-500 SEK. Make sure to ask for the fixed Arlanda-Stockholm price! (Taking a taxi between any destinations within central Stockholm will cost approximately 150-200 SEK.) Taxis accept all major credit cards. The address of the hotel is Körsbärsvägen 1.

If you want to go by public transport there are two options to go from Arlanda Airport to the city center: by bus or by train, both arriving at the same location. From there you continue by subway (or bus, see further below) to the hotel.

(A) By Airport Coach to City Center:
Arlanda → Cityterminalen bus terminal → T-Centralen subway station

Going by bus to Stockholm takes about one hour. Tickets for the Airport coaches (Flygbussarna) cost roughly 100 SEK and can either be bought online from their website: www.flygbussarna.se or on board with any major credit card. Note that cash is not accepted on board the buses!

  • Take the Airport Bus from Arlanda to the final stop Stockholm City (Cityterminalen), which is just next to the Stockholm Central Station.
  • When you enter the terminal hall from the bus stop, turn right, and follow signs "Tunnelbana/Metro" and the blue "T" logo.

  • You exit the bus terminal hall through a door labelled "Central Station", to your left 20 m before the main exit.

  • Take the escalator down and turn right (to the left are the platforms for the Arlanda airport train).
  • At the Y crossing 50 m ahead, keep right and pass the food courts and small shops.
  • Just before entering the main waiting hall of the Central station you need to take an escalator downstairs. Just keep following the "Tunnelbana/Metro" signs.

  • At the bottom of the escalator you find storage boxes and an SL Center where you can buy tickets for the subway and city buses.
  • Pass the SL Center and turn left. After 100 m you will be in the ticket hall of the subway station T-Centralen, where you also can buy bus and train tickets.
  • Continue with (C) below.

(B) By Airport Train to City Center:
Arlanda → Stockholm Central train station → T-Centralen subway station

By Arlanda Express train (see www.arlandaexpress.com) it takes only 20 minutes but costs three times as much as the bus fare, roughly 280 SEK.

  • Take the train from Arlanda to Stockholm Central.
  • At the end of the platform, follow signs "Tunnelbana/Metro" and the blue "T" logo.

  • At the Y crossing 50 m ahead from the end of the platform, keep right and pass the food courts and small shops.
  • Just before entering the main waiting hall of the Central station you need to take an escalator downstairs. Just keep following the "Tunnelbana/Metro" signs.

  • At the bottom of the escalator you find storage boxes and an SL Center where you can buy tickets for the subway and city buses.
  • Pass the SL Center and turn left. After 100 m you will be in the ticket hall of the subway station T-Centralen, where you also can buy bus and train tickets.
  • Continue with (C) below.

(C) Continue by Subway to the Hotel:
T-Centralen subway station → Östermalmstorg subway station

For information about the Stockholm public transport system (SL), fares and an online journey planner, visit  sl.se/en. Tickets are valid on buses, subways and commuter trains, as well as some ferries.

  • After passing the ticket gates, take an escalator to the platform for the red line in direction Ropsten/Mörby Centrum
  • Take any train going in the direction Mörby Centrum, and get off at Östermalmstorg (one stop).
  • Take exit Östermalmstorg/Linnegatan, and after passing the ticket booths take the exit to the left, Nybrogatan.
  • On the street, turn right and walk one-and-a-half block until you see the hotel on the other side of the street.

Note: It is also possible to go by bus from the Centeral Station to the hotel. You cannot buy tickets onboard buses, so you need to buy a public transport ticked (SL Access card) before taking the bus. To get to the nearest vending machine, leave the bus terminal through Gate A to Klarabergsviadukten, cross the street and enter a building to your right labelled "Centralstation" and a blue-J sign. Tickets can be bought in vending machines or in the ticket booths. To get to the bus, return to the bus terminal, exit at the other end, turn right to the stop of bus no.1 at stop "Cityterminalen". Get off at bus stop Nybrogatan (six stops; bus stop names are indicated on a sign inside the bus). You are now on Karlavägen. Walk 10 m in the direction of traffic and turn right into Nybrogatan. One-and-a-half block further down Nybrogatan you find Mornington Hotel on the right-hand side of the street.

The conference is on the KTH campus area, about 10-15 minutes walk from subway station Tekniska Högskolan. From Hotel Mornington you get to that subway station either by subway or by taking bus no.67, both close to the hotel.

The easiest way to get from the hotel to the conference is by subway. Bus and subway tickets (SL Access Card) can be bought in all subway stations.

  • When you leave the hotel, cross the street and turn right.
  • After 200 m you come to the exit of subway station Östermalmstorg, marked with "Tunnelbana" and a blue "T" on a white circle (or the inverse colouring).
  • Take a subway train in the direction Mörby Centrum, and get off at station Tekniska Högskolan (two stops).
  • Take the exit Tekniska högskolan/Östra station, and then turn left after you pass the ticket booths.
  • When you reach the top of the stairs you are on Drottning Kristinas väg, which goes slightly uphill, and then turns to the left. Follow this street 400 m, until you reach a five-street crossing by a small triangular park.
  • Beyond the park to your right is an impressive pale yellow building with a small tower. Walk past the park and enter the building in the main entrance in the main building to the left of the courtyard, on Brinellvägen 8.
  • The conference room Kollegiesalen is on the entrance floor, immediately to the left inside the entrance door. A bit further in is a reception, in case you have questions.

Note: You can also choose to take the bus from the hotel to the same subway station "Tekniska Högskolan": Take left when you leave the hotel. After 200 m you come to a broad avenue Karlavägen. Cross the street and find the bus stop slightly to your left. This is the bus stop "Nybrogatan" of bus no.1 and no.67. Take bus no.67 in the direction "Frösundavik" to bus stop "Östra station" (three stops). You are now at the foot of Drottning Kristinas väg, going uphill to your right. Follow the instructions above to the conference venue.

The Waterfront Congress Centre is just next to the Central station and the Cityterminalen bus terminal where airport trains and buses arrive.

  • The subway station Östermalmstorg is to the right along the street outside the hotel.
  • Take any train in the direction T-Centralen, and get off at station T-Centralen (one stop). Leave the platform through exit Centralstation.
  • Continue straight ahead after the ticket booths, about 250 m until you can turn to the right for the first time. Pass the SL Center and go up the escalator to the waiting hall of the Central station.
  • Continue up one more set of escalators to the upper street level (follow signs "Stockholm Waterfront Kongress, Klarabergsviadukten").
  • Follow the street Klarabergsviadukten 250 m to the left until you come to the corner of the Radisson Blue Waterfront Hotel, and turn left again.
  • The entrance to the Congress Centre is in the courtyard, under the metal rod constructions.

Conference Banquet: Directions

Venue: Gold Foyer, Royal Opera House, Stockholm, Sweden

The Royal Opera House is just across from the Royal Palace and the Parliament Building, within walking distance from the Central Station and the Waterfront Congress Centre. The Gold Foyer is above the main entrance, with a terrace overlooking Gustav Adolfs Torg square and the water currents dividing inland lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea.

  • The subway station Östermalmstorg is to the right along the street outside the hotel.
  • Take any train in the direction T-Centralen, and get off at station T-Centralen (one stop). Leave the platform through exit Sergels Torg.
  • When you leave the station building you are on the lower level of Sergels Torg square, with characteristic black-and-white tilings. Turn immediately right and up the wide stairs to Kungsgatan.
  • Turn left and follow pedestrian street Kungsgatan until it ends on Strömgatan by the water, where you turn left again just before the bridge and walk along the waterfront.
  • After 150 m you are on Gustav Adolfs Torg. Cross the square, and you will be in front of the main entrance of the Royal Opera House.
