Information about the arrival

Dear all,
Happy New Year! Here just some final notes about the arrival. For those
of you whose accommodation has been arranged by our secretaries, you
should have received information how to get there, and how to get from
there to Nordita and to AlbaNova; see also

  http://www.nordita.org/institute/map/index.php

The AlbaNova main building is the big white one, which is slightly
roundish. That's where we have our lectures. On the first 4 days we'll
be in the Svedberg Hall, also known as FD5. The number 5 indicates
which floor it is. AlbaNova hosts Physics of the two Universities,
while Nordita is located in the 2 buildings just in front of the main
building if you come from the hill side, as you would normally do.
Our secretaries will meet you at the main entrance at level 5 at 8:30.
The street address (useful if you have GPS) is Roslagstullsbacken 21,
while the 2 Nordita buildings are Roslagstullsbacken 23 and 17.

The first lecture starts at 9:00, so please come in good time, in
case you are not quite sure about your way. Lunch will be served in the
canteen. There are normally 3 different dishes (meet, fish, vegetarian).
By the way, right now we have some 10-20 cm of snow. When it is snowing,
all the streets and walk ways are cleared within hours. The nearby
lake is frozen, and people are skating and skiing there, so you may
want to bring your gear along.

It might be a good idea to bring your laptop. The Nordita apartments have
a wired connection, but I believe only one. So, since most of you will
be sharing an apartment, you might not be able to use it continuously.
I guess you could bring your own router, if you want to be independent.
If you want to give a short presentation, you could prepare a few slides
about your work. We expect that this School will earn you at least 3,
possibly 4 points (ECTS).

Running any codes will not be part of the official program, but if you
want to familiarize yourself with any aspects in more detail, you might
want to use to opportunity to check things out on the computer. If you
want to use Linux, but have only Windows, you can install Virtual Box
from www.virtualbox.org for free and install Ubuntu on that.

For more detailed information about the content of the lectures and
other information (some of which may be added as we go along), see

See you soon!
Axel
