During the June 2020 meeting of the Pencil Code Steering Committee
(PCSC) it was decided that the PCSC issues a regular newsletter about
three times a year to update and remind the user community of important
results and developments. The minutes and other material of the PCSC
can be found on https://www.nordita.org/~brandenb/pencil-code/PCSC/.

The range of content of the newsletter is still to be decided
upon, but what has been mentioned includes recent developments
and work on the code, the conclusions on recent discussions in
https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/pencil-code-discuss,
and recent publications that have used or mentioned the Pencil
Code.  Please send us a bibtex entry if something is missing in:
https://www.nordita.org/~brandenb/pencil-code/PCSC/citations.pdf

How does one contribute to the newsletter? Just send an email to
<brandenb@nordita.org> or <matthias.rheinhardt@aalto.fi>. We might edit
the material to make it suitable and will let you proofread what we have
done with it.

We'd like to send out the first newsletter a week before the Pencil Code
User Meeting (PCUM), which is being held during 27-31 July 2020 via zoom;
see https://indico.fysik.su.se/event/6870/
Therefore, please send us your informal suggestions and comments via reply
to this email in good time. We'll let you proofread before finalizing
the newsletter.

Incidently, as discussed at the last PCSC meeting, we plan to assign a
DOI number to an improved version of the manual at the next PCUM. Also,
please check whether any papers making use of the Pencil Code are missing
in https://www.nordita.org/~brandenb/pencil-code/PCSC/citations.pdf
The 35 papers of 2020 will be listed in the newsletter.
