Positions in Particle Transport in Atmospheric Turbulence ----------------------

at Nordita. Closing date: Jauary 15, 2019.

Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, was founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1957. It moved to Stockholm, Sweden, in 2007, where it is jointly hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. Research at Nordita covers a broad range of theoretical physics including astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, gravitation, cosmology and astroparticle physics, high-energy physics, and statistical physics/complex systems. The research activity of the local academic staff is supplemented by Nordita Scientific Programs, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods. There is also ample opportunity for collaboration with faculty and research staff at local universities. Further information about Nordita can be found at www.nordita.org.

Project description
In connection with a project on Bottleneck in turbulent aerosols there is a vacancy for several 6-month positions as visiting professor at the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics (Nordita) in Stockholm. The successful candidates will be working with the Pencil Code using the particle module to study the interaction between particles and turbulence in astrophysical and meteorological settings. One particular activity will focus on the role of fluctuations on the collision and coagulation of droplets in turbulent flows using the Lagrangian particle module.

The successful candidates will work with Professors Axel Brandenburg and Dhrubaditya Mitra at Nordita, and Bernhard Mehlig at Gothenburg University.

Qualification requirements
Researchers are appointed primarily for purposes of research and must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country
